Wednesday’s Work

I have been keeping focused on Andre and worked all morning making the rear axle fit the springs centers.  It was only off 1/2 inch so I elongated the holes a 1/4 inch on each side and it slipped right in place.  I will weld up the old holes prior to powder coating.  I think I need lowering blocks to make it sit like I want it too.  Gary said he used 2 inches and it was just about right.  I will need to make sure the pinion is set correct also which can be built into the blocks.  I don’t like lowering blocks but I have had them on all my parallel leaf spring cars without a problems.  I am about ready to install the wheels and tires in a couple of weeks and then I will have a roller.  I always get excited at this stage of the build.

Andy Brizio’s Christmas Party is today and several of my BayArea friends are planning on attending.  Andy is still going strong and has many friends all over the world.  He is truly a legend in the Hot Rod world.  I working on Thanksgiving and have not thought about Christmas until today.  I have sent my wish list to Santa and I know he will come through for me.

This is a rare 38 standard sedan delivery that I saw at the Long Beach swap meet a couple of years ago.  I have never seen another one.

Some of my friends have made the trip across 48th street and joined the late model movement.  I could be talked into one of these without any problem.  Frantic had a hand in this one.

Bob and Sandy have a super nice Deuce sedan that I found for him.  He lets me drive it when Sandy is busy.  A Ford in a Ford makes this one special.

This is the first pair of these heads I have ever seen.

Sam is known for his customs and this 40 coupe was done several years ago.  He shows up at Moorpark once in a while.

My last 40 sedan has been repainted and is ready for a new interior.  The stock driveline, dropped axle and mono leafs put it on the ground.  He has raised it up since purchasing it from the Boys.

Pure stock and beautiful the 40 coupe will always be popular with both crowds.  Modifications are not acceptable on this model.  Drive train and suspension only.

I took this photo to show you how a tonneau should look on a Deuce roadster.  This one was really nice.

I thought this was a great photo with the 40 convert in the background.  Walt sent me these from Kernville.  I will try to make it next year in Andre.

David purchased this sedan last year and has been driving it all over Orange County.  Steve Davis metalwork on a rust free sedan from the 70’s.  The bubble was for a blown Donavan.

  2. Very sorry to hear about Jack Barnard. Knew him for years, always had nice cars (had a blue 40 pickup recently, plus the Foose ’40). Had a number of Sam’s cars over the years.

    I remember following that Foose 1940 Coupe at a late 1980’s Santa Maria Bent Axles Barbarcue event. At that time he had some kind of aluminum wheel, probably Halibrand’s.

    Isn’t that 1932 Tudor Sedan Narod’s old car. Gene was at the this years Outriders Picnic and looked great.

    If you have not alread purchased the B & M Supercooler and Sasches Rod Shop mounting bracket you should wait a couple of days. I put the Chevelle up on jackstands yesterday and may not be able to mount them anywhere. I will give you a call as soon as I know one way or the other.

  4. Lynn, the Foose built chopped coupe is owned by the late owners family. Sadly the former owner, Jack D. Barnard Jr. from Carpinteria, Ca passed away on September 11, 2011. This car and Jack’s remaining cars were shown at the
    Santa Barbara Concours on Oct 29, 2011. I was told at the show that the car is for sale. If interested, contact Dan McCue in Santa Barbara Ca. at (805) 967-0919.
