I have been busy working on Blue trying to figure out what went wrong with the ignition and fuel systems. The car is about 15 years old but only has 5,000 miles on the odometer. A Mallory Unilite ignition, and the electric fuel pump should still be in good shape but I am replacing both of them for a new start.I choose the Petronix distributor and a manual fuel pump to improve my confidence in long distance drives.
The clutch needs to be replaced also, but since I want an automatic transmission I have not removed the current three speed and rear end. My local guy who helps me do these kinds of repairs has moved to Utah, so I am looking for another mechanic to help me. The car activities are starting this month and I won’t be ready with my car which is a bummer. Hopefully, I will be back on the road soon!
As age begins to take priority in my ability to do what I have always done, I find that just having a nice car to work on is what’s important to me. It takes me longer to do things I have done with ease in the past. Sometimes frustrating, but when completed, I am happy. Such is life!
