The 4th of July starts vacations for many Americans.  General Motors required we take the first two weeks of July off as the plants were closed for model change over and I have been doing that for many years.  Now that I am retired I also try to do something with the wife that resembles a vacation.  When you live in Southern California you don’t have to go far to enjoy a nice vacation.  We usually head toward San Diego and work our way back home seeing old friends in Orange County.  I may take in a few hot rod shops but maybe I will take some time off from the cars…..NOPE!

I wish all of you a safe and sound holiday and always remember what you are celebrating….  Independence Day and the freedom we all enjoy in America. I know all of you will be doing the BBQ and getting together with family and friends and not thinking about the reason for the celebration so I am reminding you that we really do have a good reason for this day off.
